Spring Fling!

It's spring, which has me in the mood to fling! Right now there is a pile of books waiting to be donated to the library, a bag of clothing waiting to be dropped off at our local thrift shop, and I am just getting started. Do you get in the mood to clutter clear in the spring? Honestly the clear out bug hits me year round, but there is just something about spring weather that seems to bring it to the forefront!

A pretty bedroom!

As usual, I find myself being constantly inspired by the creative and gorgeous homes in my Home as Art Flickr group. Here is another pretty bedroom from IDA Interior LifeStyle. I love the bright, airy feeling of the room, the colors, and the textures!

Of birthdays and summer.

The birthdays have been celebrated, and very well if I say so myself! The cupcakes above came from a cute local cupcake shop called Cupcake Chic. The flavors: strawberry vanilla, coconut, and red velvet. And they were beyond delicious. We celebrated with a trip to the local aquarium, which is awesome because we are land locked and I love the ocean and ocean creatures. We also tried The Cheesecake Factory for the first time ever. Oh goodness, why did we wait so long?

For my birthday I was given some lovely gifts, including some money to spend however I wanted! I already spent it on something for our master bedroom. I will share what it was spent on when it arrives, my fingers are crossed that it will be as great in person (the only downside when ordering online).

When we first moved into our home, summer always meant tons of house projects. This year, the projects are small, and few. It's actually really nice to be able to just sit back and enjoy our home as it is. There are things we would love to do still as budget allows, but nothing beats being able to enjoy what you have accomplished.

A room to dream about (and in)!

One thing that we don't love about our current home is the size of our bedroom. It's very small, only a queen bed will fit in it (with room to walk on the side that is, I suppose we could be wall to wall bed if we wanted to have a king sized bed). So of course I am always dreaming of dreamy bedrooms, and this bedroom is right up my alley!

Finally, a new bed frame!

A few years ago we bought a bed frame that we loved. It had a padded leather headboard, foot board, and side rails. It was great, until it completely fell apart, leaving us with our bed being held up by BOOKS!

As you can tell, the books weren't always great at holding the bed frame up either. We just replaced it with the Chunky Wood Bed Frame from West Elm. It's one of many improvements that we are making to our master bedroom. Right now we are doing a "mini-makeover" of sorts to upgrade the space. We don't want to be like so many, where it's the room that is left for last.

The way this room looks (from the West Elm website) is very much my style for a dream bed room! Our bedframe, though the same as in the room, is the chocolate version to match the rest of our furniture.

A beautiful room to sleep in, and start the day in, is something that can really make a difference! Stay tuned for updates as we progress.
